Howard is one of the leading therapists in Queensland, with extensive experience in the practice of acupuncture, trigger point needling and soft tissue therapy in the treatment of sports and musculoskeletal injuries.

While studying acupuncture in the mid 80’s, Howard sought out and completed other available studies in sports injury management and soft tissue therapy, with the objective of specialising in the treatment of such injuries.  On completion of his Bachelor of Acupuncture in 1988, he gained valuable experience working at elite sports medical practices in Brisbane before establishing his own private practice – Springwood Sports Health.

Howard has lectured extensively in sport injury management and back care, and in 2008 completed his post-graduate Masters degree in Acupuncture. He has been employed as a consultant therapist by various sorting teams including the Brisbane Broncos (1989 – 1998) and the Brisbane Lions (2000 – 2008).

Internationally, Howard has made more than 30 overseas tours with various Australian representative sporting teams and he has been appointed to roles within the Australian Olympic Medical Staff for the 1992, 1996, 2000, 2008, 2012, and 2016 Olympic Games.

Howard has participated in track and field competition every year for over thirty seasons and feels that his own sporting involvement has provided many useful insights into the prevention and management of injury in others.

In private practice, Howard uses acupuncture and hands-on therapies to treat musculoskeletal injuries in both sporting and non-sporting patients, utilising his extensive experience and comprehensive treatment to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients.
